Want to find out what scuba diving is like before deciding to get your PADI Open Water Diver scuba diving certification? During a Discover Scuba Diving experience, you can try scuba diving for the first time in a pool or calm water environment.
We will provide scuba gear, explain basic scuba diving skills and answer any questions you may have.
Try Scuba Diving
If you’re interested in scuba diving, but unsure if you want to enroll in a scuba certification class, Discover Scuba Diving is the perfect way to test the waters. In a very short time, you’ll learn basic scuba skills and take your first breaths underwater.
Step 1:
Prepare for your Discover Scuba Diving experience with PADI DSD eLearning™. Use your computer or mobile device to learn diving safety fundamentals before you get in the water. Contact a PADI Dive Shop or PADI Professional for access to DSD eLearning and to schedule your first scuba diving experience.
Step 2:
With Your Instructor
We will fit you with scuba gear and explain how to use it. In a pool or calm water environment, you'll practice basic diving skills followed by free time to play underwater or go on a guided dive.
Prerequisites: None
Total time commitment: 3-4 hours
Minimum age: 10
Price includes class materials, gear rentals, and instruction.

Steps 1 & 2
Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology on your own time with PADI e-learning, then learn basic scuba skills in a pool with a highly trained PADI Instructor. E-learning
Step 1
PADI eLearning
PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology whenever, wherever it's convenient for you.
It's your course on your time. Study offline, or online using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor whenever you have a question.
eLearning time commitment: 5-10 hours
Step 2
With Your Instructor
Practice using scuba gear in a pool (or pool-like environment) until you're comfortable. PADI training includes practice "mini dives" to help you build confidence in your new abilities before making four dives in open water. Open Water check out dives booked separately.
Total time commitment: In as little as 2-4 days

Step 3
The PADI Open Water Diver course includes four open water dives which usually take place over at least two days. Each dive has been designed to give divers the opportunity to practice and hone their diving skills while increasing confidence and comfort in the water.
Each dive includes a number of instructor-assessed skills. Some skills you will need to complete on a certain, specific dive. Others, the “dive-flexible skills,” you can perform at any convenient time when you’re in or under the water.
This portion of the class will require travel. Some options are only a couple of hours from Atlanta or a quick weekend trip down to Florida. This travel is an extra cost.
